The book is based on an approach and set of exercises Pacheco has developed over the years to help students of journalism, film, public relations and advertising conduct controlled tests of new technologies to solve media-related problems.

Pacheco has a long history as an innovator in major media companies. He started his digital career as online producer for Washingtonpost.com, where he produced Interact, one of the first online news communities. Subsequently, as a principal product manager at America Online, he oversaw some of the internet’s first truly global community products. Jane is deputy editor at ITPro, and its sibling titles Cloud Pro and ChannelPro. She started with the brands as a staff writer specializing in cloud computing. She went on to become a senior writer and reports editor, managing the content and creation of ITPro's quarterly whitepapers. His 20 years in media have seen him focus on Digital Brand Development, Content, Audience and Commercial Growth as well as International Business Development and Partnerships, Digital Subscriptions, E-Commerce and Affiliate revenues. 

In 2019 he founded his own business, Quested Consulting, that works with media companies to help them find opportunities to diversify revenue streams, launch new products and develop existing brands and with solutions providers who are looking to work with and understand specialist media. 

Having launched FIPP Consulting in 2023, the FIPP Board asked Alastair to step in as Interim MD of FIPP in January 2024.

Charlotte Ricca Performance Psychologist, Podcaster, and Content Strategist

Charlotte Ricca has worked in the media industry for almost three decades, as a journalist, editor, presenter and podcaster. She has written for leading titles, including the Guardian, Independent and BBC, and created content for big brands, including Samsung, American Express and TDK.
During this time, Charlotte has also interviewed leaders in business, sport and entertainment and has always been fascinated with what it takes to stay at the top of your game. This curiosity took her back to university, where she studied to become a performance psychologist. Damian Radcliffe is a journalist, researcher, and professor based at the University of Oregon. He is also a three-time Knight News Innovation Fellow at the Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia University, an Honorary Research Fellow at Cardiff University’s School of Journalism, Media and Culture Studies (JOMEC), and a life fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA). In Spring 2023, he will be a Visiting Fellow at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford University.
